One Light Many Lamps Mini-book
There are millions of people out there who would like to believe that all religions come from God. But they just can’t reconcile the glaring apparent differences. This booklet (inspired by our best-selling teaching card and banner) offers a rational explanation for the differences between religions. It may not convince all skeptics, but it will ease the concerns of the open-minded.
Like the Secret of Happiness, this is formatted as a gift book. It has quotations from various religions on every other page. The book also demonstrates the similarities between religious scripture while explaining the reasons for the differences in their theology. Anyone who is intrigued by the cover will be inspired by the information inside.
One Light Many Lamps is written in a conversational tone. It uses the metaphor of the school to explain progressive revelation. The argument is the differences between major religions is no greater than the differences between the beliefs of individual Christians. Supporting evidence includes quotes from a survey that claims 21% of the Christians in America believe that they are reincarnated! Conflicting beliefs, therefore, do not prove differences in origin, only differences in interpretation.

The “One Light, Many Lamps” minibook is our favorite gift for a seeker who knows a bit about the Faith, and is ready for the second step. It presents the principle of Progressive Revelation in a non-threatening way. We’ve even used the quotes in it in an on-air devotional on our radio station. It is well thought out and reasonable. We recommend it. Doris and Roger Rasmussen, Desert Rose Baha’i Institute

We love this booklet and have lost count of how many times we have read and re-read it. We frequently use it during our daily prayer and meditation times. The format of passages from the Writings on the left and explication on the right has helped uncover deeper understanding each time we read.
Also, we want to mention the incredibly fast delivery each time we order something from Special Ideas.
Outstanding content, outstanding customer service.

I appreciate the down-to-earth nature of writing that Justice St. Rain uses. This may be something that will help individuals who have English as a second language connect more quickly with the Faith and encourage them to develop a more extensive knowledge base once they become a Baha’i. The Ruhi books are good and an essential part of growing as a Baha’i, but books 1 and 2 which most new Baha’is participate in don’t (in my opinion) enable the new Baha’is to teach the Faith to those who have never heard of it before. The booklet, “One Light – Many Lamps”, in my view, seems to close that gap regarding the oneness of religions.
However, at first, the quotes on every other page made reading the booklet a little challenging until I got into the rhythm of their intended purpose. Maybe a sentence or two in the beginning as a part of the introduction would be helpful to provide some format orientation to the reader.
Also, I think that it would be best to provide some specific website links rather than simply encourage readers to google “bahai” in their browser for more information. My experience with doing that has been to find negative and inaccurate information about the faith which could be confusing to a seeker.
Hope that helps.
