give a damn – Denim Hat (with Embroidery) A simple & direct call for compassion

This is my first embroidered design. With over 60 unique designs to choose from, this is the only one that really lends itself to embroidery – which is fitting, considering its history:

When I was in Jr. High, I had a sew-on embroidered fabric patch that looked just like this sewn to the back pocket of my denim jeans (thus the denim hat). It was considered radical at the time (1970), and I was sent, once again, to the principal’s office. But they couldn’t force me to remove it. For me, it expressed the essence of what the world needed – for more people to “give a damn.” And I did. How about you?

More recently, an article of clothing that said “I don’t really care” became to topic of discussion.
