A friend called me to ask me to make something to give to people in the healing profession using this recently translated prayer. I decided that it deserved the “full treatment.” I’ve made art quality prints on canvas that can hang as they are or be placed in a larger frame, 5×7 postcards that can be given out for less than a dollar each, and these prints in 8×10 mats that can be framed.
As gifts go, these are halfway between our simple postcard and the canvas art prints. Which one you give depends on how much of a personal relationship you have with your healing professional. If you only see your doctor once a year, then give them the postcard when you go for your annual visit. If this is a doctor or healing professional you see frequently and feel close to, then either this matted print or the canvas would be appropriate. This would also be true for close friends who are also doctors.
Keep in mind this quotation: “The prayers which were revealed to ask for healing apply both to physical and spiritual healing. Recite them, then, to heal both the soul and the body.” Abdu’l-Baha. This means that you can give this to doctors, nurses, chiropractors, massage therapists, and even social workers and therapists who work to heal hearts.
8×10 is a standard frame size. You can give this matted print “as is” and let them decide on a frame, or purchase a frame yourself. Believe it or not, there are some lovely ones at the dollar store.
The mats come in Storm Blue, Forest Green or Ivory. Note: the mock-ups are not photographs. They are digital outputs of my original files, so the colors are not perfect (but photographs were worse). Also, the mats will have a beveled edge on the inside. I’m including a picture of the blue and green mats next to a dollar so you can get a better idea of the actual colors.
The border design is by Joe Paczkowski, based on an early scarf design.
