Gratitude is a core virtue that makes us happy while making others feel happy and appreciated at the same time.
Think of all of the people who you interact with every day – the store clerk, the waiter, the doorman, the taxi driver, the postal worker, your kid’s teacher or coach. The list could go on forever. Just thinking of all of these people can make you feel grateful! While a formal thank you card might be too much for casual interactions, these little cards are perfect.
Fold one up in your tip, leave one by the cash register or in a tip jar, hand them out with a smile.
While the card is making you feel good and the recipient feel appreciated, it is also teaching the spiritual principle that work performed in the spirit of work is worship. Oh, and it also introduces them to the name of the Baha’i Faith.
One customer said that they saw this card taped to the wall of their favorite restaurant.
The Thank You for your excellent service wallet cards are blue with a floral border and say on the front:
Thank You for your excellent service.
The back says:
“. . . all effort and exertion put forth by man from the fullness of his heart is worship, if it is prompted by the highest motives and the will to do service to humanity”
— from the Sacred Writings of the Baha’i Faith —
Give “Thank you for your excellent service” to anyone who behaves as though their work is worship.
We also have “Thank You for your Kindness” cards to cover even more occasions.

I’ve passed these out whenever the occasion arises, someone performs a service for me, or another, or I’m supposed to leave a tip, or an individual just seems to deserve one. They are always appreciated.
I took about 50 with me on a trip to Egypt and one place had a wall where interesting items from customers were posted. when I passed through again, on my way home I saw the card pinned right at eye level.

A joy to give. A waitress remembered me when I returned 2 weeks later and came over to tell me how much she appreciated the card.

I have given out many of these and have received feedback from some of those people (years later in some cases) that they were really touched and kept them all this time in their wallets.

I’ve been giving away “Thank You for your excellent service” cards for decades. It feels good to give a restaurant server and others a “thank you” and share a Writing with them as well. It’s a great “semi-silent” teacher and hopefully generates some curiosity while bringing a smile to the face of the recipient.
