Economic Justice Baha’i T-Shirt

The elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty is one of the ten basic social teachings of the Baha’i Faith, and yet, it is one we rarely speak of. I would like to see that change. The economic inequality we are experiencing the the USA right now is greater than during the Gilded Age when Abdu’l-Baha made the following observation:

“A financier with colossal wealth should not exist whilst near him is a poor man in dire necessity. When we see poverty allowed to reach a condition of starvation it is a sure sign that somewhere we shall find tyranny. Men must bestir themselves in this matter, and no longer delay in altering conditions which bring the misery of grinding poverty to a very large number of the people. The rich must give of their abundance, they must soften their hearts and cultivate a compassionate intelligence, taking thought for those sad ones who are suffering from lack of the very necessities of life.

“There must be special laws made, dealing with these extremes of riches and of want.” 

Though we are asked not to put direct quotations on T-shirts, this design summarizes Abdu’l-Baha’s statement pretty accurately. That’s why I included “The Baha’i Faith” at the bottom.

The green bar represents wealth, the red bar represents debt. Household debt in the US has reached an all-time high, even as billionaires control a greater share of wealth than ever before.

These T-shirts are custom-printed by a separate printer after you order them. This is something of a technological miracle, if you ask me. But it means they are not returnable unless they are defective, so please check our sizing chart when ordering.  They are also shipped separately directly from the printer, and may arrive several days after the rest of your order. They are usually printed within 2-3 days (amazing), and then it can take 2-8  days to ship to you, depending on where you live. So they usually arrive within 5-10 days, but they can take longer.
