Peace is such a lofty ideal that it can be hard to know how to bring it down to a practical personal level.
Here are nine things you can begin to do as an individual right here, right now. Taking action – even small personal action – helps overcome anxiety and inertia. Once you get rolling, you will discover lots of ways to make a positive impact on the world.
When you pass these out, you think you are passing out postcards, but you are really passing out hope – hope that our actions make a difference, and that the world really can get better.
These postcards match our large posters and flags to make a coordinated literature display. The postcards are oversized – 5.5″x8.5″ (half letter-sized) – so they are easy to read, but still small enough to carry around to take home and put on the refrigerator. They are blank on the back, so you can add local information – either hand-written, or on a sticker. You might be able to print on the back, depending on your printer’s capabilities, but I haven’t tested that. If you mail them, they require letter postage, not postcard rate.

These cards were gifts to the Interfaith Thanksgiving service attendees in Fort Wayne, IN from the Baha’i community. They were much larger than I expected and beautifully illustrated. Rabbi Meir commented they were “totally kosher” to offer for the interfaith service. All eighty copies were taken!

I recently bought a pack of 50 beautiful postcards “Nine Ways We Can Work for Peace”. We plan to give them out at a local community spring fair at our Baha’i both. The size (1/2 page) allows for nice, large print, easy to read. We can also use these for our devotions and firesides. Everyone needs positive thoughts right now, and here they are! The back is blank, so we may print the Baha’i website and 800 number on it.
